This position reports to the Architectural Specialties (AS) MD CAD Supervisor and supports the product line for ACGI by providing solutions to internal and external customers through creating drawings to address complex installation and product issues utilizing two-dimensional and three-dimensional design software (AutoCAD, Inventor).

What does a CAD Technician do?

Key Process Ownership - Primary:

  • Manufacturing drawing process
  • Works cooperatively with design CAD department, project managers, project coordinators and manufacturing plant to accurately interpret customer approved design and provide detailed drawings for manufacturing.
  • Creates project drawing files - both paper and electronic, maintain electronic.
  • Creates DXF project files to support CNC department.
  • Creates Excel spreadsheets for shipping department and other spreadsheets as needed for cut lists and parts lists.
  • Provides a vital link between the customer approved design and manufacturing plant, providing detailed drawings of products ready for manufacturing.
  • Creates custom solutions for specific projects, including new product development, as assigned.

Key Process Ownership- Secondary:

  • Communicate in person, by email and Teams in a clear and professional manner.
  • Supports and continually learns about our custom wood products and manufacturing process.
  • Works will design and manufacturing to revise drawings as needed, help update product details and improve the drawing and manufacturing process.
  • Participates in conference calls with project management, project coordination and internal customers.
  • Supports the sample process, as required.
  • Participates in focus groups or special teams to help improve quality and processes.

As a member of the plant staff, this person provides active leadership toward achieving the overall plant objectives of safety, business excellence and commitment to our employees.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or Certificate in Computer-Aided Design, Architectural, Mechanical, Engineering or closely related field OR minimum 3 years of closely related work experience OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Well-developed computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and statistical analysis programs.
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2D modeling

About the location (Marshfield MO)

Architectural Components Group, Inc. (ACGI), a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI), is one of twenty AWI plants in North America.Our Marshfield plant in south western Missouriisconveniently located within 3 hours to large cities such as Tulsa, Kansas City, and St. Louis as well as within 30 minutes to thesmaller city of Springfield.
