Purpose of the Role
As an E&I (Electrical & Instrumentation) Field Engineer at Worley, you will play a pivotal role in the successful execution of construction and commissioning phases of energy, chemicals, and resource projects. This role ensures that work is carried out in accordance with design specifications, operational requirements, and sustainable practices. You will provide technical expertise in the field, supporting our mission to deliver sustainable change through safe, reliable, and innovative engineering solutions.

This position is central to bridging traditional and sustainable energy projects, enabling a smooth transition toward a more sustainable future while maintaining the performance and integrity of critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply complex engineering designs and specifications to field construction and commissioning activities
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and construction teams to adjust designs for real-world conditions and constraints
  • Supervise and inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with approved documentation, applicable codes, standards, and Worley's sustainability goals
  • Provide technical assessments and final approvals for completed electrical and instrumentation installations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex construction and commissioning issues, ensuring effective technical solutions are implemented
  • Lead by example in upholding HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards and promote a culture of safety and accountability
  • Support construction and commissioning planning with schedule alignment, material readiness, and resource coordination
  • Assist with the development of field engineering procedures and work instructions that promote consistency, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Offer mentoring and guidance to junior field personnel and subcontractors, fostering knowledge transfer and collaboration
  • Document technical changes and field adjustments, ensuring traceability and integration into as-built documentation
  • Engage with stakeholders to provide status updates, progress reports, and technical insights, ensuring transparency and alignment with project objectives

Additional Information

  • This role is located in California
  • Salary Range $95,000 - $139,000
  • Benefits: eligible for PTO, 401k, medical, vision, dental, etc.

Qualifications / Skillset

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent trade qualification with extensive practical experience
  • Demonstrated field engineering experience in complex, multidisciplinary industrial projects, ideally within energy, chemicals, or resources sectors
  • Proven ability to work independently in field environments with minimal supervision, making sound engineering decisions aligned with project goals and organizational values
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, construction methodologies, and commissioning best practices
  • Familiarity with engineering tools, project systems, and digital platforms used in the delivery of integrated, data-centric field solutions
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation, including electrical schematics, instrumentation diagrams, and loop drawings
  • Proficient in identifying, managing, and mitigating field-level risks while maintaining alignment with project schedules and sustainability targets
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, able to analyze complex technical issues and develop practical field-based solutions
  • Clear, confident communication skills, capable of delivering information effectively to cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and site personnel
