Job Description

Position Description:

Ameritas is currently searching for an Assistant Actuary-Product Management. This position provides actuarial services to support our inforce life and annuity products. The incumbent is responsible for providing actionable information that enables good business decisions. Supports project initiatives regarding inforce business by collaborating with the life and annuity pricing teams, Financial Planning and Analysis, and Corporate Actuarial.

Position Location:



  • This is a hybrid role working partially in-office and partially from home.


What you do:



  • Set up, test, and maintain actuarial models for life insurance profitability analysis, dividend scales for regulatory Closed Blocks, and illustrated scales under the Illustration Regulation
  • Evaluate products with non-guaranteed elements against current anticipated experience factors
  • Develop cross-functional partnerships to support business initiatives, including determination of actuarial assumptions
  • Perform stress testing and scenario analysis to support management's strategic decision making
  • Manage risk while ensuring appropriate profitability levels
  • Compile and analyze data using statistical formulas and actuarial methodologies
  • Monitor compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to actuarial practices and reporting
  • Respond to information requests from internal stakeholder (actuaries, accountants, auditors, management) and external parties, providing actuarial analysis as needed
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of actuarial analyses, methodologies, and assumptions
  • Provide guidance, training, and direction to junior actuarial associates



What you bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or quantitative field
  • ASA (Associate, Society of Actuaries) designation
  • FSA (Fellow, Society of Actuaries) designation preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years actuarial experience required, with focus on Life or annuity products
  • Advanced knowledge of actuarial mathematics, and proficiency with spreadsheets and databases
  • In-depth knowledge of financial and modeling software, with FIS Prophet experience preferred
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, with ability to present concepts to various audiences
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly
  • Experience with data analytic tools (PowerBI or similar platforms) preferred

About this Position's Pay
The pay range posted reflects a nationwide minimum to maximum covering all potential locations where the position may be filled. The final determination on pay for any position will be based on multiple factors including role, career level, work location, skill set, and candidate level of experience to ensure pay equity within the organization. This position will be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits package (see above for details). This position will be eligible to participate in our Short-Term Incentive Plan with the annual target defined by the plan.
