SUPERVISOR OF ACCOUNTING Department of Finance General Accounting Division Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Salary: $94,500.00 (New hires are paid the starting rate. Current employees' pay rate is determined by their job title and years of service.) Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59pm CDT on 07/03/2025. Under general supervision, functions as a supervisor directing the work of professional staff in an accounting unit and performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES * Supervise, oversee, and provide guidance to staff for TIF-related matters. * Help manage and organize the City annual TIF audit. * Collaborate with City's annual citywide financial audit. * Coordinate with Director of Accounting re:day-to-day operations of DOF-GA-TIF subunit as they relate to property taxes, TIF accounting, and pension contributions. * Accommodate ad hoc accounting requests as necessary * Ensure schedule alignment and operational coverage of team. * Interact with non-DOF departments for TIF concerns. * Facilitate necessary payments related to TIF surpluses and pension contributions. * Monitor the City's TIF and pension financial reports. * Prepare, submit, and review journal entries and audit requests. Additional duties may be required for this position. Location: Department of Finance, 121 N. LaSalle St., Suite 700, Chicago, IL 60602 Days: Monday - Friday Hours: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting or a directly related field with 15 semester hours in accounting, plus four years of professional accounting experience of which one year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, provided the minimum degree requirement is met. NOTE: You must provide your college or university transcripts with 15 semester hours of accounting courses at the time of interview.
