Pavion and our family of companies is seeking a talented and motivated Engineering Estimator to join our security business unit.

Primary Responsibilities:

Technical Acumen:



  • Estimate, design and respond to formal bids
  • Review and interpret construction documents, wiring and schematic diagrams and schedules
  • Provide technical design support for sales and field personnel
  • Be open minded and able to suggest new products for both existing and new customer
  • Proactive in following up on proposals both verbally and in writing
  • Promote product knowledge by assisting in meetings and product demonstrations to customers
  • Ability to write Presentations and Cost Proposal in a professional manner
  • Strong computer skills, including but not limited to creating spreadsheets, cost proposal and project bids using software
  • Strong verbal and written skills. Candidate must be able to demonstrate a sense of leadership in negotiations and critical thinking
  • Able to work in a team environment or individually with little direct supervision
  • Industry professionals holding NICET, PSP, CPP and/or LEED certifications are encouraged to apply
  • All work is performed to Pavion standards and quality techniques are practiced
  • Maintain accurate project information with in Pavion shared files and system
  • Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities without supervision
  • Capacity to organize workload for effective implementation
  • Be knowledgeable of current industry standards and emerging technologies
  • Other duties deemed necessary


Customer Service & Communications Skills:



  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in providing customers and Project Managers with detailed progress updates, delays/ impacts, safety concerns, and any other information that will aid in achieving a successful project outcome
  • Work proactively and in a positive manner with all co-workers
  • Communicate effectively and in a timely manner to resolve Pavion, Client, or other inquiries and/or requests
  • Maintain communications with customers and sales executives to resolve customer issues
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one and small group situations


Safety & Accountability:



  • Adherence to all Pavion Safety Policies; Work at required heights utilizing ladders, scaffolding, lifts, or other
  • Consistently keeps work area clean and free of potential hazards
  • Work in confined spaces as necessary
  • Ability to complete work and solve problems in a timely manner
  • Work with Project Manager to ensure complete closeout and turnover of jobs to the client and service department
  • Provide reports to management
  • Adhere to procedures and standards in system design for quality installations


Basic Qualifications:



  • High school diploma
  • Field experience with low voltage systems in a construction environment and excellent computer skills desired
  • Minimum of four years industry experience working with Fire Alarm systems required


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Electronics/Construction Management certification a plus
  • BSEE or equivalent a plus


Physical Demands:



  • Ability to lift occasionally and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision
  • Ability to effectively communicate, (i.e. see, hear, speak and write clearly) in order to communicate with employees and/or customers
  • Manual dexterity required for frequent reaching, climbing, and lifting of moderate objects, operation of power and manual tools/equipment, and operating office equipment
  • Ability to stand and work on a ladder; must have the ability to reach and work overhead
