The Category/Vendor Manager is responsible for driving strategic category planning and optimizing vendor performance across the organization. This hybrid role blends category management-focused on market analysis, sourcing strategy, and assortment optimization-with vendor management, emphasizing supplier relationships, contract negotiation, and performance management. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with strong analytical and relationship management skills to deliver cost efficiencies, innovation, and business value.

Key Responsibilities

Category Management
  • Develop and execute category strategies aligned with organizational goals and business needs.
  • Conduct market research and trend analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and category innovations.
  • Manage product assortment, lifecycle, and pricing strategies to ensure optimal performance and profitability.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to forecast demand, define category priorities
  • Lead sourcing initiatives and RFP/RFQ processes within assigned categories.

Vendor Management
  • Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, service levels, and terms to achieve optimal value and compliance.
  • Monitor vendor performance using scorecards and KPIs, driving continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Partner with vendors to identify innovation opportunities, sustainability initiatives, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Resolve supplier performance issues and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.


Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Category Management, Vendor Management, Procurement, or Strategic Sourcing.
  • Proven success in managing supplier relationships and leading cross-functional initiatives.

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data-driven decision making (Excel, Power BI, or similar tools).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, hybrid environment.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to deliver measurable business outcomes.

Work Environment
