As the Patient Referral Coordinator you will be responsible for:

  • Being knowledgeable of all Early Phase trials and processes that are offered by SCRI at Mary Crowley

  • Serving as the point of contact for all staff regarding patients being referred for Early Phase trials including but not limited to emails, phone calls, and verbal communication.

  • Educating patients with details and expectations with the referral process

  • Maintaining a tracking system of incoming referrals and inquires and initiate data entry for new patients in applicable systems

  • Communicating with patients and referring oncologists throughout the referral process

  • Coordinating activities related to obtaining medical records and imaging for all new patients

  • Collaborating with the clinical team to complete a review of patient's medical records

  • Following up with scheduling appointments in a timely fashion

  • Reviewing of physician schedule for new patient appointments and provide necessary feedback to physicians when needed

  • Collaborating with the Financial Counselor to verify eligibility and benefit coverage of primary and secondary insurance to confirm coverage for services

  • Identifying and coordinating activities related to solving potential concerns related to health care, financial and/or social barriers

  • Communicating status of referrals, referral metrics and process updates to leadership

  • Coverage for various processes within the Drug Development Unit as directed by leadership.

You should have for this position:

  • An associate degree, bachelor's degree is preferred

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals across all levels of the organization

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Effective analytical, technical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong multi-tasking skills

  • Proficient planning, typing and organizational skills

  • Healthcare experience is preferred

  • Research experience is preferred
