Position Summary

The Director of Compliance Insights is responsible for leading PG&E's electric compliance program strategy by performing horizon scanning, identifying industry best practices, and using data insights to inform compliance capabilities in support of enterprise objectives. This is a strategic role that is core to driving the compliance program towards becoming a leading example in the industry. This role oversees the Compliance Strategy, Data Quality and Analytics, and Visual Management and Insight Services teams. Director of Compliance Insights will ensure that the organization's skills, data, processes, and enabling tools are effectively driving and enabling compliance strategic objectives. This strategic role will also support key governance forums such as the Risk and Compliance Committee (RCC) and Commitment Information Center (CIC).

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Reporting Relationship

The Director, Compliance Insights will report into the Senior Director, Electric Risk & Compliance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Influences senior leadership regarding strategies for compliance processes, policies, communication with the regulatory agencies, best practices, improving company outage and safety metrics as well as construction & maintenance standards to enhance reliability and asset life.
  • Responsible for the establishment and ongoing effectiveness of the newly formed Compliance Insights function. Develops long term strategy for department and ensures alignment with overall goals of full electric organization (transmission, distribution, and substations). Determines department performance metrics and processes/systems to capture, optimize and report data. Regularly presents updates to senior leadership on status of department initiatives and goals. Is a proactive strategic partner in helping to achieve 100% compliance.
  • Leads strategy, data management, and technology enablement of the compliance management and mitigation response functions. Defines the Electric Compliance and data technology strategy and roadmap. Improves decision-making through data driven insights.
  • Partners with cross functional stakeholders to effectively manage and integrate data into regulatory reporting/response content, governance, and decision-making. Partners with Compliance Excellence and Compliance Assurance Directors to develop strategies for compliance assessment and mitigation across full electric organization (transmission, distribution, and substations).
  • Ensures Electric Compliance internal and external stakeholders' data and information needs are met with fit for purpose dashboards, reporting and tracking mechanisms.
  • Leads and inspires team to progress in compliance maturity and implement an effective data strategy & governance framework to drive compliance data acquisition, quality and integrity. Coaches and inspire direct reports to establish and continuously improve the Data Quality & Analytics function, the Visual Management and Insight's function and the Compliance Strategy function.
  • Establishes and manages streamlined compliance processes to reduce the risk of regulatory penalties. Forecasts and adapts to regulatory changes proactively.
  • Provides strategic and data-related enablement for priority objectives including for electric operations, and system safety program enhancements.
  • Focuses on high quality regulatory submissions requirements while maintaining and improving internal policies, procedures, governance, and training staff. Leads staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, change management, and rewards and recognition.
  • Coaches other and models expertise in regulatory reporting platforms, data applications, technology, and tools. Approximately up to 6 direct reports.

Compensation

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill be placed towards the middle of the range ($235,000), the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $174,000

Bay Area Maximum: $296,000

Background Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor of Science, with a preference for Engineering or a related technical field; or Bachelor of Arts, with a preference for Economics, Public Policy or a related discipline; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Desired

  • Master's Degree
  • Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) or other data analytics certification.
  • Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP)
  • Thorough understanding of electric system operations and knowledge of electric regulatory requirements, state and federal, such as NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation), FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission) guidelines and other relevant compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of compliance management and safety concepts, methods and practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex data findings into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and manage work collaboratively within cross-functional teams including compliance experts, engineers, analysts and data scientists.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex datasets to identify trends, correlations, and insights that ensure compliance and improve operational efficiency. Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills to forge alignment and relationships to accomplish results.
