Job Description
Electrical Designer Status: Exempt (salaried) Department: Mechanical Design Position Summary The Electrical Designer is responsible for the design, development, integration, and documentation of electro- mechanical and electrical components, as well as the continual support of these electrical systems within our Hydrogen and fuel cell products. A successful candidate would be able to create electrical interconnect diagrams (EID's) as well as quality routed harnesses and drawings from the harness flats using Creo Parametric and Creo Schematics. This role requires close interaction with the engineering, manufacturing, sales, service, purchasing and program management teams. This is to ensure our designs meet all cross-functional requirements as well as any relevant codes and standards, that ease of manufacture and service are thought of up front, that the designs are robust and will survive harsh environmental conditions, that cost targets are met, and that the designs can be delivered on time. The ideal candidate must be creative, self-motivated, able to handle multiple assignments and willing to learn and adapt in a fast-paced product engineering organization. Core Software Competencies :PTC Creo Parametric 4.0 or later preferred PTC Creo Schematics 4.0 or later preferred PTC Windchill 12 or later preferred Core Duties and Responsibilities Develop electrical schematics, 3D CAD models, harness drawings, and electrical component specifications. Ability to interpret electrical interconnect requirements for consumer electronics such as motors, VFD's, sensors and instrumentation. Create accurate, complete, and concise engineering documentation. Coordinate and lead design changes through the enterprise change process. Must be able to clearly communicate ideas and issues in both written and verbal form. Must be capable of working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Must possess strong hands-on problem-solving skills. Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task. Must be able to manage projects and follow-through on assigned tasks. Flexibility and adaptability to changes in requirements, priorities, and schedules. Some travel required to support system prototype builds and addressing production issues. Ability to represent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions; support the philosophy of the organization to provide high-performance technology to maximize customer satisfaction.
