Under the supervision of a supervisor or manager, the Distribution Technician performs a variety of indirect patient care activities. This includes delivery/pick up of mobile equipment from various departments/clinics; Ensures all necessary instruments and supplies are prepared and ready for assembly on case carts; Observes strict patient confidentiality following all HIPAA rules and regulations.

Distribution Technician maintains a clean and safe environment and observes infection control practices.

Experience REQUIRED: N/A

Experience PREFERRED
Minimum of one (1) year experience in stocking, warehouse or transporting, preferably in a healthcare environment.

Education/training REQUIRED:
Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.

Education/training PREFERRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Independent action(s) required: Functions under the direction of supervisor/manager to provide indirect patient care, emotional support and problem solving all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure. Follows OSHA and TJC guidelines. Job duties may include the access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies.

Additional position requirements: Depending on the area assigned, technicians are expected to rotate shifts including weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations if applicable, and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet staffing requirements or in the best interest of the work unit.
