Job Summary

This position is responsible for following approved procedures for the servicing, and maintenance of all equipment and systems at the Osprey facility. Must become familiar with emergency procedures to follow during periods of abnormal conditions. Accountable for knowing and adhering to all safety procedures including Lockout Tagout and personal protective equipment. Performs maintenance of plant equipment, troubleshoots, repairs, and sponsor contract workers performing maintenance at the facility.

Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance on all plant mechanical equipment, such as boilers, turbines, air compressors, fans, pumps, etc.
  • Bend materials, torch cut materials and make weld repairs to carbon steels and steel alloys.
  • Trained and knowledgeable in the safe and proper use of hand tools, power tools and miscellaneous equipment (e.g. hammers, sockets, compressors, hydraulic hose clamps, forklift, overhead hoist etc.
  • Perform rigging and lifting operations.
  • Work safely and effectively in a team environment.
  • Learn basic skills in other craft areas such as operation, electrical & I&C.
  • Adhere to all station safety and environmental programs and procedures.
  • Ability to operate station vehicles such as forklifts, manlift, and trucks.
  • Perform precision inspections/overhauls/rebuilds of pumps, valves, fans, etc
  • This position is a multiskilled role that requires qualification within the Mechanical Maintenance job family. It also requires continual training for future qualification in other field skillsets (IC&E and Operations).

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Prior experience in Instrument & Controls, Electrical. Some mechanical.
  • Must have at least Instrument & Controls or Electrical journeyman discipline of the three disciplines and can obtain progression skills in all three disciplines and operations of the plant.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Millwright experience
  • Technical degree in mechanical and welding.
  • Lifting and Rigging certifications.
  • 5 years machining experience.
  • 5 years of power plant mechanical maintenance experience.
  • 5 years welding experience in boilers, welding pressure piping and structural steel, welding certifications.
  • Read O&M Manuals, schematics, structural steel drawings and piping isometric drawings
  • Pump/motor alignment experience
  • Valve maintenance experience
  • Combined Cycle power plant experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Military or technical training.
  • Working knowledge of the overall operating fundamentals and principle of generating station systems, equipment, and processes.
  • Combined Cycle Experience.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting Distributed Control Systems, preferably Siemens T3000. Experience in developing logic to enhance combined cycle operations.
  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting PLC systems.
  • Experience and ability to monitor and troubleshoot equipment and system operations (Combustion Turbines, Steam Turbines, Generators, pumps, valves, HRSGs, etc.)
  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), maintaining QA/QC program, and adhering to Air Permits and Title V compliance.
  • Previous experience with some lifting and rigging
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills utilizing windows applications, email, CMMS, preferably Maximo and the work management process.
  • Knowledge of NERC standards and Cyber security as they apply to the plant.

Working Conditions

  • Onsite Mobility Classification - Work will be performed at a company facility.
  • Industrial power plant environment.
  • Available for callouts on Nights, Weekends and Holidays as required
  • Rotating equipment, poor lighting, vibrations, extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes/gasses/chemicals, machine operation, vehicle operation, high noise levels, high voltage, prolonged standing, walking, kneeling, bending, climbing, lifting to knees-waist- shoulders - overhead, call outs, outage response.

Specific Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Successful completion of EEI MASS Test
  • Must pass respiratory physical,can wear all required safety equipment, the ability to work in confined spaces.
