Analyst-Operations Planning

Primary Responsibilities for the Analyst-Operations Planning

  • Use the material flow functions to maintain increase the synchronous material/order flow through the manufacturing process in support of the key manufacturing goals as directed.
  • Calculate, define and maintain planned work center throughputs and capacity. Identify the daily and weekly work center schedules as required to maintain the synchronous flow of material/orders through the manufacturing process.
  • Provide these schedules to supervisor or more senior Operations Planning Analyst for communication in the weekly manufacturing scheduling meetings.
  • Review and assess impacts created by the change of work center cost management rates on the work center's capacities.
  • Responds to non-standard requests from customers; investigates with assistance from others as needed.
  • Solves a range of problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using standard procedures.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques and data collection resources.
  • Knowledge of Shop Floor Data Control Systems, OORS, MPPS, PICS and the interaction of these systems.
  • Knowledge of various software applications such as Lotus Notes, Word, Excel and Carpenter's Intranet.
  • Aware of costs and assists in controlling costs related to own work.
  • Accountable for technical contribution to a project team or sub-team.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required for the Analyst-Operations Planning

  • Four-year degree with a concentration in Business, Industrial Engineering, or Operations Planning.
  • APICS certification, preferred.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in one of the following disciplines: Order Scheduling, Production Planning, Inventory Management, Logistics, or Manufacturing Management with on-the-job interaction in a constraint-based flow management environment.

Preferred for the Analyst-Operations Planning

  • Responds to non-standard requests from customers; investigates with assistance from others as needed.
  • Solves a range of problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using standard procedures.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques and data collection resources.
  • Knowledge of Shop Floor Data Control Systems, OORS, MPPS, PICS and the interaction of these systems.
  • Knowledge of various software applications such as Lotus Notes, Word, Excel and Carpenter's Intranet.
  • Knowledge of Constraint Theory and its use at Carpenter.
  • Aware of costs and assists in controlling costs related to own work.
  • Accountable for technical contribution to a project team or sub-team.
  • Works with others to achieve team goals through expanded knowledge and skills within own function.
  • May be accountable for subsets for project deliverables.
  • Has no formal role in managing projects.
  • Understands the key business drivers; uses this knowledge in own work.
  • Expands fundamental knowledge in own function and broadens skills.
