Responsibilities:

Note: Candidates must reside within daily commuting distance from Modesto, CA to be considered. Relocation and sponsorship will not provided.

The Process Engineering Specialist is responsible for analyzing, designing, and improving manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency within our fruit processing operations. This role focuses on reducing waste, improving throughput, and ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory standards.

• Analyze and optimize fruit processing operations, including washing, peeling, cutting, blending, thermal processing, and packaging.
• Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
• Lead process validation and troubleshooting to resolve bottlenecks or quality issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, Maintenance, R&D, Operations) to support product scale-up and line extensions.
• Assist in designing and implementing new processing systems or upgrades to existing equipment to improve efficiency or throughput.
• Support the commissioning and start-up of new lines or modifications to current production lines.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of process documentation, including SOPs, PFMEAs, and process maps.
• Monitor KPIs such as yield, downtime, OEE, and labor efficiency to identify areas for improvement.
• Ensure all processes adhere to food safety, quality, and environmental regulations (e.g., HACCP, FDA, GMP).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Food Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food or beverage processing.
• Strong understanding of unit operations in fruit processing (thermal treatment, dehydration, pasteurization, etc.).
• Proficiency with process simulation tools, CAD, and manufacturing data analysis.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma (certification is a plus).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Proficient in CAD tools and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project and Outlook).
