Full-time, 40 Hours/Week Variable Days, 5a.m. to 3:30p.m., On-call every fourth week Remote (Applicant must reside in OH or PA) Summary: The Data Integrity Specialist maintains the operations of the electronic health record systems by managing the accuracy and integrity of the Enterprise Master Patient and Person Index [EMPI], including all elements of patient identity, demographic information, patient contacts, and registration data. Responsibilities:
- Maintains the operations of the electronic health record systems by managing the accuracy and integrity of the Enterprise Master Patient and Person Index [EMPI] and ensuring all data is accurate, timely and meaningful. Ensures data integrity between computer systems that comprise the patient health record.
- Perform chart merges, review demographics overlays, update registration information, correct registration errors by performing contact moves, oversee demographic changes by MyChart accounts, evaluate patient charts from Care Everywhere and Roster Management processes, update patient contact information, track mortality and autopsy rates.
- Works closely with HIM, Information Services, and organization management to develop and enforce data integrity policies, resolve issues, educate staff who schedule, register, admit or otherwise have patient identification editing capabilities within systems, and provide initial and remedial training, as necessary.
- Performs qualitative and quantitative review of records to ensure they are in compliance withstandards, researches and verifies documentation corrections, investigates, and audits data integrity issues, and reports accuracy/communicates data integrity issues throughout the enterprise.
- Maintain reference libraries of resolved errors across various functions to report statistical trends.
- Is responsible for on-call duties in the data integrity area to cover after hours, as assigned by HIM management.

- Experience in health information management is preferred.
- Experience in patient registration process is preferred.
- Experience with Epic is preferred.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
- Excellent written communication skills that enable appropriate, professional, timely and clear communication.
- Demonstrate analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills, with experience in the evaluation of data integrity preferred.
Education and Experience
- Education: Associate degree in health information management or related field is preferred.
- Certification: RHIT or RHIA certification is preferred.
- Years of relevant experience: 3 to 5 years is preferred.
- Years of experience supervising: None.
