GENERAL SUMMARY

The Business Architect is responsible for developing and maintaining the business architecture framework that aligns with the organization's strategic objectives. This role focuses on bridging the gap between business strategy and operational execution by designing and optimizing capabilities, value streams, organizational structures, services, initiatives, strategies, business processes, etc. The Business Architect uses this understanding to provide actionable insights that inform decision-making, drive business transformation initiatives, and optimize the use of technology to meet business goals. The Business Architect will be interacting with stakeholders, understanding their needs and making recommendations and business decisions based on their experience in the financial industry.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Develop a business architecture strategy that aligns with the organization's vision, strategic goals, and business priorities.
  • Define and model the core business capabilities that the organization performs to deliver value.
  • Identify capability gaps and redundancies and recommend opportunities for optimization and investment.
  • Map out the end-to-end value add activities (value streams) that create value for clients and stakeholders.
  • Define the structure and relationships between business units, roles, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct impact analysis to assess the potential implications of strategic changes on the business architecture.
  • Support the development of business cases for new initiatives and business technology investments.
  • Facilitate collaborative workshops and interviews to gather requirements and build consensus with stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into actionable architectural changes.
  • Ensure alignment between business architecture and other architectural domains (data, application, technology).
  • Develop and maintain business architecture documentation and artifacts.
  • Promote a shared understanding of the business and its architecture across the organization.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and communication between business and IT.
  • Stay current on industry best practices and emerging trends in business architecture.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, system analysis, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • An MBA would be a plus.
  • Business Architecture Guild (BAG) Certified Business Architect (CBA) based on BIZBOK V 10 or later or other Business Architecture certificates is an added advantage.


Experience:



  • 10 or more years of IT and Business experience in financial institutions including architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management, and business strategy; as well as planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives.
  • A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance.
  • Experience using model-based representations that can be adjusted as required to collect, aggregate, or disaggregate complex and conflicting information about the business.
  • Experience modeling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques.


Skills/Ability:



  • The ability to recognize structural issues within the organization, functional interdependencies, and cross-silo redundancies.
  • The ability to apply architectural principles to business solutions.
  • The ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings and articulate their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues.
  • The ability to visualize and create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture.
  • The ability to act as liaison conveying information needs of the business to IT and data constraints to the business; applies equal conveyance regarding business strategy and IT strategy, business processes and workflow automation, business initiatives and IT initiatives, and benefit realization and service delivery.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations.
  • Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities.



OTHER DETAILS

$115K - $135K / year
Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
