Function and Scope:
The Creative and Branding Associate is responsible for graphic design and production of marketing and communications projects with a high level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software on the Macintosh platform. Ability to design for print, online, presentations and displays. Requires a working understanding of brand and visual identity systems. Works under the direction of the Team Leader, Creative and Branding.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create original graphic design and graphic design production for marketing and communications group projects, in keeping with ACC's visual and brand identity guidelines.
- Work with the marketing and communications teams to assure that projects benefit from the expertise and input of the various business lines within the College.
- Project management of assignments to assure that projects and materials are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the expected creative and business objectives.
- Work with the Creative and Branding Production Manager to ensure that all projects can be produced within budget and meet any necessary postal regulations. Recommend solutions that enhance creative results and/or provide costs savings whenever possible.
- Accepts projects as assigned by the Team Leader, Creative and Branding, as well as in collaboration with the Creative and Branding team to deliver projects from concept to completion such as collateral systems, ad campaigns, newsletters, magazines, exhibits, etc.
- Maintain creative assets files and resources, such as stock and assignment photography, special fonts, software programs and updates, art materials, etc.
- Manages individual project workload via web-based job tracking system.
- Organizes project files in line with department standards and regularly updates project archives on shared servers for team access.
- Demonstrate personal and professional commitment to working collaboratively with the marketing and communications team to support our members and business areas, foster creativity and to strive for excellence in all areas of responsibility.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience as a professional graphic designer.
- Bachelor's degree in design, graphic design, digital design or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Proficient with Macintosh-based software programs: proficiency on Adobe Creative Cloud graphic suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, Adobe After Effects and Premier Pro) Final Cut and Canva.
- Thorough knowledge of visual identity systems and the graphic support needs of a high-volume, fast-paced, deadline-driven creative team in an association environment.
- A technically and creatively strong portfolio that demonstrates proficiency in all areas of graphic design as well as a thorough understanding of communication design, video and typography principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to be part of a collaborative and supportive team, to receive and act upon constructive feedback from colleagues as well as provide feedback to others.
- Willingness to carry out all design assignments with a strong commitment to bringing projects to completion within budget and deadlines while adhering to brand standards and marketing objectives.
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of industry standards for preparing artwork for press.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in publication design.
- Basic knowledge of Final Cut or Premiere Pro for video editing.
- Experience with photography, basic knowledge and use of canon cameras
- Experience in creative services/communications department of large association, corporation, design studio or advertising agency.

Our salary ranges differ based on the cost of labor in the local market where the job will be performed. For this role in Washington, DC (and other high-cost of labor markets if applicable, including California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Washington) the target base salary range is: $65,000 - $75,000. The salary ranges for other locations in the US will vary based on the local labor market; ACC's Recruitment Team will be able to provide more information to candidates during initial discussions.
