Description The Janitorial Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness within a manufacturing plant and/or warehouse. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a safe, hygienic, and productive working environment. The Janitorial Worker plays a key role in supporting the overall operations of the plant by ensuring that all areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety and health standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, removing cobwebs, and vacuuming floors and surfaces in production areas, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and other high-touch surfaces.
- Empty trash bins and recycling containers and ensure proper disposal of waste materials according to company procedures and environmental regulations.
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, minor repairs, and reporting any significant maintenance needs to the Facilities Manager.
- Clean and maintain janitorial equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and cleaning supplies, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and report any safety hazards or incidents immediately.
- Monitor and manage cleaning supplies and materials, including restocking as needed. Report low inventory levels to the Maintenance Manager.
- Participate in special cleaning projects or deep-cleaning tasks as assigned, such as floor waxing, carpet cleaning, or cleaning after major production events.
- Other duties as requested.
Required Skills:
- Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work is preferred, particularly in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, tools, and chemicals used for various cleaning tasks and surfaces.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning and maintenance of all areas.
- Understanding of safety procedures and protocols related to cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Familiarity with cleaning processes and equipment used in manufacturing environments a plus.
- Minimum one year of janitorial experience.
