Job Summary

FIU Embrace is seeking for a Student Program Assistants to join their team and perform the duties below:

  • Support the administrative and outreach functions of FIU Embrace.
  • Maintain scheduled office hours and assist with the daily office operation as determined by supervisor
  • Answers all incoming calls to the FIU Embrace Office using professional telephone etiquette and retrieves voicemail daily. Responds timely to inquiries and messages via a returned telephone call or email accordingly.
  • Develop strong facilitation, effective communication and other leadership skills by participating in all FIU Embrace trainings and meetings.
  • Refer freely to campus, and community resources
  • Have a familiarity and be knowledgeable of campus offices and services
  • Attend and contribute to regularly scheduled one-on-one sessions and staff meetings.
  • Complete all required documentation within the established time frame
  • Attends FIU Embrace outreach activities or assists in hosting FIU Embrace events and activities as assigned.
  • Self-driven to utilize on-campus resources such as to increase proficiency and ability to perform duties and responsibilities using Google applications, MS Office Suite, Adobe etc.
  • Upholds confidentiality agreement at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the FIU Embrace team.
Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Education or job experience in an office environment is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work up to 20 hours per week
  • At least one academic year remaining at FIU

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities required

  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and congenially in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to speak in Spanish is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work independently with outlined instructions.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional suite.
  • Novice or intermediate proficiency in social media platforms is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented and diligent to follow-up and complete tasks for assigned projects.
  • A positive, pleasant attitude with good problem-solving skills.
  • Neat and well-groomed to represent the FIU Embrace Office according to calendar of events.
  • Professional attire may be required for donor or FIU Embrace events on occasion.
