Senior CAD Designer

The Senior Designer is responsible for the design, release, and maintenance of mechanical and electromechanical products at the direction of engineering, product line managers and operations in support of existing products and new product development. This position interfaces with Department Engineers, Production and Planning teams, Machine Shop, External vendors and other engineering organizations within Nordson.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

* Design products in SolidWorks, including modeling, detail machining prints and reference drawings.

* Design electrical products in AutoCad Electrical, including producing prints and reference drawings, per manufacturing and application compatibility.

* Support department engineers with detailed machining prints and reference drawing of designed machined parts and assemblies.

* Support the production departments in the manufacturing and assembly of released equipment. This includes designing Tooling and Fixtures to assist the machine shop and manufacturing departments in producing parts, sub-assemblies and production equipment.

* Contact and support outside machine shops on Nordson products, this includes requesting quotes and ordering parts through our purchasing department.
* Release products into production through Nordson Release/ECR process and SAP.
* Maintain existing products and newly released products by complying with required engineer standards and ECR request.

* Provide quotations from outside machine shops and vendors on products used within Nordson manufacturing, tooling and fixtures.

* Support purchasing, electrical and import/export compliance personnel with information pertaining to fabricated, purchased materials and parts.

* Support engineering with the assembly and testing of prototype parts and assemblies.

* Support the Specials (RS) group with design and release of new product per customer orders.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience, mechanical design preferred

Associate degree in CAD/Drafting preferred

Preferred Skills and Abilities

Ability to design and analyze components and complex assemblies for production using 3D modeling (SolidWorks)
* Knowledge of machine print detailing, reference drawing layout, and GD&T principles
* Familiar with operation of typical PC tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
* Knowledge of SAP is plus
* Should be resourceful in searching for and retrieving information from internal and external sources
* Excellent work ethic with consistent positive attitude
* Good organizational skills as well as data and information management skills for future retrieval
* Self-starting and detail oriented Working

Position will be onsite Monday through Friday at out Johns Creek facility.
