We are looking for a College Laboratory Intern (Purdue Northwest Students Only) in 3600 Eagle Nest Dr, Crete, IL 60417 USA. Your mission will be to:
Job Title: Laboratory Intern
Location: 3600 Eagle Nest Drive, Crete, IL
Work Schedule: Onsite 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), 9-5PM
Compensation: $19/hr
Duration and Start Date: June 3rd - August 7th
Must be going into Junior or Senior Year
Position Summary
The Food Testing Laboratory Intern will support our scientific team in conducting laboratory tests, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This is an excellent opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting, gain valuable laboratory experience, and contribute to impactful projects in the food industry.
Qualifications Required
Purdue Northwest University student entering Junior or Senior year
Ability to work onsite at our Crete, IL Lab (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Reliable transportation to the lab location
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Contribute to specific, project-based tasks within the food testing laboratory, focusing on [e.g., product development, quality control, safety testing, etc.]
Assist in the design and execution of laboratory experiments related to ongoing projects
Collect and analyze data from experiments to support project milestones and goals
Prepare and organize materials and samples for project-specific tests, ensuring accuracy and consistency
Document project progress and maintain detailed records of experiments, results, and methodologies
Assist in compiling and presenting project findings to senior staff or stakeholders
Help manage project timelines and ensure testing is completed within designated schedules
Participate in team meetings to discuss project updates, challenges, and future steps
Other duties as assigned
Communication:
The position involves frequent interaction with company management at all levels.
YOUR PROFILE
Qualifications Desired
Currently enrolled in a Science based major at Purdue Northwest University (e.g., Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, etc.)
Students going in their Senior or Junior Year
Strong interest in food science, laboratory work, and food safety
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Google Drive, Sheets, etc)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience or coursework in Data Analysis

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The incumbent works in a laboratory with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory. The incumbent works in a laboratory with increased temperatures near the autoclave and washer. The incumbent is required to wear masks, laboratory coat and insulated gloves when working with media. Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds is necessary when loading and preparing samples. The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing position.
