Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant is a key member of the HR team, responsible for supporting the university's strategic priorities through effective recruitment and onboarding processes. This role involves collaborating with campus clients, implementing best practices, and ensuring compliance with university and state policies. The consultant operates autonomously, providing expert guidance and leading cross-functional projects to enhance HR operations. This position also involves supervising members of the Talent Acquisition team and working closely with the Director of Talent Acquisition to set direction and identify priorities.
Key Responsibilities:


  • Consultation: Partner with campus liaisons to align Talent Acquisition with immediate and long-term goals. Provide expert advice to campus and HR partners.

  • Optimize Applicant Tracking System (ATS): Oversee and optimize the ATS, ensuring efficient candidate tracking, data integrity, and user support. Provide training on system functionalities.

  • Projects: Collaborate on change process initiatives and participate in Talent Acquisition and cross-functional projects. Support campus initiatives and special HR projects.

  • Training/Learning & Development: Develop and facilitate training on recruitment and employment policies, practices, and compliance. Provide support materials and information sessions.

  • System Reporting and Utilization: Extract, review, and analyze data from the ATS to build reports that support informed decision-making and enhance recruitment strategies.

  • Policy: Provide comprehensive guidance on regulation, policy, processes, and initiatives to ensure alignment with university and state guidelines.


This position is designated as Exempt from the Human Resources Act (EHRA)
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of progressively responsible experience analyzing, interpreting, applying, communicating and promoting HR best practices in the context of organizational goals and objectives; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • At least 2 years of related Human Resources experience (postings, search committees, organizational design, client-facing consultation, reporting, etc.), preferably in a public higher education setting
  • Familiarity with federal and state laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment, along with experience within the UNC System and/or NC Office of State Human Resources on Recruitment and Employment policies and procedures
  • Proficient in reviewing and analyzing data and reports to ensure accuracy and actionable insights, experienced in data analysis and report generation
  • At least 1 year of experience using an applicant tracking system (PeopleAdmin, PeopleSoft) and familiarity with ERP systems (preferably Banner)
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, hiring managers, and the public, with project management experience to lead the implementation of small to moderate-scope projects
  • Proficient in collaborating to assess needs and develop customized presentations and training programs focused on Talent Acquisition

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification
