Overview

Shure is looking for an Engineer Sr., Audio Test and Certification, who will be pivotal in ensuring the delivery of superior audio products.

This position requires conducting comprehensive objective and subjective audio quality testing and product validation to meet and exceed industry standards. The Senior Engineer will lead the creation, definition, and review of both automated and manual test procedures and fixtures, and will be instrumental in collaborating with cross-functional product teams to assess and integrate new audio algorithms and features. Key responsibilities include gathering data, scenario testing, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to maintain best-in-class audio performance. The Engineer Sr., Audio Test and Certification role ensures the delivery of high-quality audio products. This position is responsible for conducting thorough objective and subjective audio quality testing and product validation. The role involves leading the definition, creation and review of automated and manual test procedures and fixtures. The position involves collaborating with cross-functional product teams to evaluate new audio algorithms and features. The engineer will lead data gathering and scenario testing to validate the audio product performance, ensuring seamless integration and adherence to industry standards. The Engineer Sr. drives continuous improvement initiatives and is responsible for ensuring best in class performance in the industry.

This position will be hybrid based out of our Niles, IL HQ!



Responsibilities

    Lead development and execution of comprehensive test plans to evaluate audio quality and performance of new and existing products. This includes conducting manual and automated verification of objective audio performance and defining subjective listening studies.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automated testing frameworks. Create novel tools to validate audio features and performance
  • Analyze test results using both objective metrics and subjective evaluation. Generate detailed test reports and documentation of test setups and results. Provide informed feedback to DSP developers and audio hardware engineers.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams made up of product management, software engineer, DSP developers and acoustic engineering to define and review requirements. Work with outside customers to troubleshoot field issues.
  • Automate algorithm parameter tuning. Develop strategies for capturing, curating, and utilizing behavioral audio databases for machine learning and algorithm development.
  • Develop critical listening, subjective, and objective assessment of products in market and defining standards for achieving high quality products. Accurately document results and provide differential analyses to stakeholders.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field with an emphasis in Digital Signal Processing or Audio Processing is desired; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in audio testing, software verification, and quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
  • At least 3 years of experience with programming or scripting languages such as C/C++, Python, PHP. Matlab experience is desirable.
  • 3+ years of experience with automated testing and working with continuous integration using Jenkins, Bitbucket and Jira
  • Strong knowledge of audio components, systems, and performance metrics.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with test and measurement equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, audio analyzers, and digital multi-meters. Experience with Audio Precision is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

PAY TRANSPARENCY
Shure offers a competitive compensation structure that is reviewed annually to attract, hire, and retain the industry's top talent. Base salaries vary based on qualifications, geography, experience, and expertise in each respective discipline. The base salary range for this position is between $88,400 - $177,600. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for this opportunity. If your salary expectations do not align, still apply as we are often flexible on the seniority of posted positions. All positions also include an award-winning benefits package.
