Description

Brown and Caldwell (BC), a national environmental engineering firm, has a new opportunity for a Structural Engineer to provide structural knowledge and technical proficiency to deliver high quality designs for a portfolio of clients. We are seeking a motivated and achievement-oriented individual to take ownership of their structural design on projects and contribute to the project design team.

Hybrid work is allowed; preferred locations will be near one of our offices in Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Atlanta or Denver. Alternate locations may be considered on a case by case basis. Selected candidate will be supporting projects located on the East Coast and must be willing to work East Coast hours.

Detailed Description:



  • Provide structural engineering design for tanks, basins and building facilities at water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Design concrete, steel, and masonry structures per IBC.
  • Design concrete structures utilizing ACI 318 and ACI 350 for Environmental Structures.
  • Perform condition assessments of existing structures.
  • Prepare detailed design sketches, and coordinate with designer staff to prepare BIM models and design drawings.
  • Assist with preparing construction specifications.
  • Provide construction administration support: submittal review, RFI responses, and structural observations.
  • Utilize Risa 3D, STAAD Pro, RAM, Enercalc and other software for structural design.


Required Qualifications:



  • Knowledge of concrete, steel, and masonry structural design per IBC and referenced standards.
  • 2-5 years of experience in structural engineering design.
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering (structural course work emphasis).
  • Effective oral and written communication essential.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of experience in structural engineering design.
  • Experience with treatment plants, ports and heavy civil/structural projects.
  • Structural design experience with wastewater treatment plant or industrial facilities; commercial design experience is a plus.


Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $80,000 - 109,000

Location B: $88,000 - 120,000

Location C: $96,000 - 131,000
