Under general supervision, facilitates multidisciplinary care for the patient and coordinates direct nursing care on the assigned shift to ensure the highest quality care and service to each patient. Provides direct patient care as needed.
Education: BSN or Associates degree and a commitment to attain BSN in three years. Licensures/Certifications: * Current registration with Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse.. * Completion of "Healthcare Provider" CPR course, biannually * ACLS/PALS as required. Experience: At least three years experience in relevant clinical area Skills: * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Effective planning and organization skills in order to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously * Strong analytical skills in order to identify and develop solutions to administrative, operational, and patient care problems. * Advanced skill in organizing assignments and activities of others for the overall benefit and smooth operation of the shift. * Demonstrated skill in managing patient service issues and service recovery. * Skill in allocating nursing and support resources to provide smooth and efficient, high quality care to patients assigned to unit. * Able to supervise, train, and provide effective leadership to nursing personnel.
Patient & Workplace Safety:
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: * Maintains safe, adequate shift staffing levels that meet staffing ratios, and anticipates patient care needs by updating assignments and ensuring appropriate resources as acuity and census require; plans for staff breaks and lunches, meetings and educational offerings to facilitate quality care and staff members' involvement in unit activities. * Coordinates patient flow such as admissions and discharges on assigned shift and ensures that attending physician, staffing office, and management are kept up-to-date regarding patient, unit, and bed status concerns; ensures that unit secretaries are informed of changes in nursing assignments and patient location so systems and logs remain up-to-date. * In collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Specialist, staff and Professional Nurse Council, actively facilitates a learning environment for all staff assigned to shift; assists and guides staff in performing their direct care responsibilities and actively facilitates assimilation and learning of new clinical information/techniques. * Acts as shift resource for policy decisions and monitors/reviews work performance of assigned shift staff; ensures that assigned shift staff have adequate tools and resources, such as clean rooms, meals for patients, medications, supplies, and ancillary support services in order to provide high quality patient care. * Assists in training and orientation of new staff members. * Ensures smooth transition to next shift by reporting to oncoming Clinical Partner on patient care issues, bed status, equipment, supplies, and staffing concerns and items requiring follow up. * Ensures patient and family concerns are addressed timely and that appropriate services/resources are accessed to address issues and concerns; ensures follow up and service recovery as needed.

Pay Range $32.50 - $55.78
Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
