The primary purpose of the Physical Plant is to maintain the building, grounds, and infrastructure of the UNCW campus so that it is safe, reliable, clean, and attractive. This includes departments such as HVAC, Electric, Plumbing, Landscaping, Housekeeping, Motor Pool, Food Services Maintenance, Carpentry, Paint and Roofing, Fire Alarm and Physical Security and Access and Locksmith Services.

The Landscape Services Unit is part of the Physical Plant Business Affairs Section of the University. This unit provides support for the maintenance and operations of all University grounds.

The Grounds Worker is a team member of the Landscape Services Unit, performing general grounds maintenance, including trash pickup, new landscaping, irrigation repair, edging, pruning, mowing, general manicuring of all campus properties, parking lot maintenance and other associated duties as determined by supervisor or administration.

This position has been designated as mandatory personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule. This position may assist in the removal of snow, ice or debris, as required.

Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

A Valid NC Driver's License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
