JOB ANNOUNCEMENT COORDINATING PLANNER II Chicago Department of Aviation Noise Abatement Division Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Salary: GY11 $103,176.00 annually Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59pm CDT on 5/01/2025 OVERVIEW: Coordinating Planner II - A senior project management role, with strong academic and professional credentials and seasoned airport/industry experience in aviation, urban planning, and/or development environment. This includes extensive knowledge of master plans and capital improvement plans. A Coordinating Planner II has project supervisory experience and can take the lead on managing multiple airport projects and challenges, including communication with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities for CDA cover documentation coordination, land use analyses, detailed research, stakeholder supervision, airfield simulation, and aeronautical studies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES Coordinates airport layout plans, environmental documentation, and other pertinent resources that support new airport development and projects. Supervise advanced planning studies such as, demand and capacity evaluations, operational planning studies and land use analysis. Evaluates land use, transportation, airfield, terminal area proposals for airport compatibility, efficiency, and benefit. Assures compliance of airport projects and other matters with City of Chicago, CDA, FAA, and other federal and state standards and regulations. Supports the preparation and administration of airport grants. Conducts and guide various internal and external meetings. Provides oversight, input, and reviews of various airport planning consultants. Drafts submittals, letters, and reports as necessary related to planning projects or concerns. Responds to inquiries from other departments, agencies, developers, tenants, interest groups, and the general public regarding airport planning issues or related matters. Attends various hearings, public meetings, or events that support planning projects and current work. Manages transportation programs and projects that affect airport operations. Performs other similar duties as directed by the Commissioner of Aviation or by other CDA senior management. Performs other related duties as required.
Additional duties may be required for this position Location: O'Hare International Airport, Chicago Days: M-F Hours: 9AM - 5PM and flexible depending on operational needs NOTE: The candidate(s) selected for hire must pass an airport background check and a Security Threat Assessment (STA). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Environmental Planning or a directly related field supplemented by four years of supervisory experience in the development and management of major planning or research studies.
