Location:

Seattle, WA - Retail shop How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? Sells industrial, medical and specialty gases, welding equipment, power and hand tools, paint and other supplies to customers. Advises customers on tools, hardware, and materials needed, and procedure to follow to complete tasks customers wish to perform. Works with the local team under direction of
Branch Manager to arrange for delivery of cylinder and hard goods. May be requested to make deliveries in the absence of a delivery driver while following all DOT and Airgas policies and procedures.

The hourly range for this position is $24- $28

Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
Ensures all required paperwork is accurately completed, including coding, costing, and pricing.
Advises customer on tools, hardware, and materials needed, and procedure to follow to complete tasks customer wishes to perform
Order entry, process cash and charge orders; assist with reconciliation of cash and bank deposits.
Communicates by phone, e-mail and in person with customers, sales staff, store managers and others, inquiring about and providing information on cost, ordering and delivery times, etc.
Develop outgoing call strategy and make outgoing calls to support sales growth for the branch
Obtains or transfers merchandise requested by customers to and from other locations.
Answers customer questions concerning location, price and use of merchandise.
Processes totals price and tax on merchandise purchased by customers using computer, calculator and/or paper and pencil to prepare invoice. Accepts payment and makes change for customer purchases. Wraps or bags merchandise for customers and assists in loading and unloading cylinders.
Arranges with customer and location for delivery of cylinder and hard goods.
Maintains neat, clean and professional personal appearance.
Coordinates with the purchasing department any product shortages or outages.
Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get
along with customers, vendors, co-workers and management.
Ensures all administrative and accounting related procedures are strictly observed.
Stocks shelves, warehouse, counters and tables with merchandise, and maintains showroom displays.
Operates company vehicles and equipment in compliance with state and federal DOT and Airgas safety policies and procedures.
Uploads, delivers, and downloads safely to customers of hardgoods items and cylinders containing compressed gases. Returns empty cylinders to plant for refilling.
Maintains load manifests and all other vehicle documents, ensuring they are properly completed and balanced with truck counts and shipping documents before and after deliveries.
Performs pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, documenting deficiencies and ensures all safety items are in good working order.
Maintains neat, clean and professional personal appearance, and maintains vehicle appearance in a professional manner.

Maintains a safe driving record and appropriate driver's license classification while operating company vehicles and equipment.
All employees are expected to perform any reasonable work request that falls within the qualifications but not specifically described.

Required Education:
High school degree or the equivalent is preferred.

Required Length & Type of Experience:

  • Minimum of one to three years of experience in industrial retail, inside sales, customer service and/or inventory control-related position.

  • Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements.

  • Minimum one (1) year of class A or B experience operating a commercial vehicle

  • Must possess a clean and safe driving record, with no at-fault accidents or serious moving violations within the past three (3) years.

  • Experience operating a forklift is preferred

  • Detailed understanding of SAP and PROS functionalities preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA's):

  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.

  • Ability to clearly communicate via phone, email or in person with customers, sales staff, Branch Manager and all the other branch personnel. Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.

  • Basic computer skills (i.e. Window Applications and Google Suite).

  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.

  • May be required to operate a forklift in the warehouse.

  • Ability to read and comprehend safety data sheets.

  • Working knowledge of all Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations for commercial drivers.

  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Must meet all physical qualification standards imposed by regulation for drivers.

  • Possess a commitment and desire to work safely and ethically

  • Must be able to work occasional overtime, when necessary.

  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace. DOT pre-employment and random drug testing applies.
