Summary:

Working within Engineering & Construction (E&C) Project Controls, the Lead PowerBI Specialist will be responsible for leading the build out of reporting within E&C to standardize reporting, analyze data to capture major KPI's/metrics, and enhance project performance measurement utilizing PowerBI. They will also continue to build-out reports and dashboards by interfacing with E&C's project tracking and reporting tool, PROCOM. One key aspect of this role will be to incorporate AI technology to provide advanced insight leveraging the data from PROCOM and the Benchmarking tool.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




  • Work with the Director - Project Controls to continue build out of a PowerBI reporting platform to standardize the various reports produced within E&C to support all customers.
  • Continue the build out of a PowerBI reporting platform that is interfaced with E&C's project tracking and reporting tool, PROCOM that is mid-development.
  • Enhance, augment, and shape our data strategy by acquiring and warehousing new data sources from inside and outside the organization.
  • Champion and implement modern BI solutions using latest BI technologies including IOT, Cloud, Machine Learning, and AI.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing traditional BI solutions using the MS SQL Server BI stack.
  • Create automated dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, SAP Business Objects, and/or SSRS.
  • Work with business users and other IT areas to collect, shape, and use functional/business requirements to then design and develop end-to-end solutions including ETL, governance, presentation, data mining, machine learning as may be needed.
  • Develop, document, and adhere to standard procedures and best practices.
  • Ensure requirements are met in accordance with corporate compliance standards.
  • Work with internal/external customers, including Senior Leadership, to refine reports to provide better visibility across E&C programs to assist with decision making.
  • Ad hoc PowerBI reporting/dashboard build out from internal E&C customers as requested.
  • Ability to take minimal direction and run down an objective to completion.


Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:




  • Must be able to effectively support and communicate with various project team members and within the E&C Project Controls group.
  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Experience with building reports in PowerBI is crucial.
  • Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Additional work outside of normal business hours may be required.
  • Travel could be up to 10%, as required; role to be based out of Houston, Texas.



Education/Experience:




  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Engineering, Business/Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years' experience developing traditional BI solutions within the Microsoft BI stack.
  • Must be able to work on multiple simultaneous tasks with limited supervision.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and team collaboration skills.
  • Strong time-management skills, initiative, commitment, and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high quality standards and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency utilizing the following Software(s):


* Modern BI Solutions in the MS Azure BI stack.

* Reporting and warehousing of IOT data.

* Data Science/Advanced Analytics (ex: Predictive Analytics, Text Analytics, and analysis of unstructured data).

* SAP.

* Advanced knowledge and proficiency utilizing Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft platforms.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
