Receptionist - Temp (Food Warehouse)

OVERVIEW:

To assist the Food Warehouse Supervisor with the day-to-day operations and administration of the Food Warehouse. Reception and clerical support are the primary functions of this position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Provide receptionist duties for the Food Warehouse.
  • Answer phones and take messages and return phone calls as directed.


  • Compose and type documents as directed.
  • Open mail, sort and answer routine correspondence.
  • Assist with emails and other forms of correspondence with donors, community members, employees and other individuals as directed.
  • Receive food orders from agencies and clients and data entry of food orders.
  • Assist in ordering TEFAP and other government commodity foods.
  • Tracking donated foods from local businesses, farms, and individuals including recordkeeping and data entry of donations.
  • Filing
  • Perform other receptionist and clerical duties as directed.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Must be a high school graduate or have equivalent GED.


  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple duties in a business office.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English required, bilingual in Spanish helpful.
  • Have good personal interaction and phone skills.


  • Interact professionally in all contact with the public and Salvation Army Officers and staff.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Be cordial, friendly and professional in carrying out job responsibilities.


  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately.


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook for email.
  • Possess maturity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to interact with volunteers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs

  • Modern office equipment and relevant software
