JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The 'Omics' Discovery laboratory in the Department of Biobehavioral Health at The Pennsylvania State University (http://bbh.hhd.psu.edu/) is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar. The anticipated start date for the position is as early as July 1st, 2025. Candidates for this position should have experience in the areas of statistical programming (R, Unix, Linux, etc.) and Machine Learning analytical pipelines. Qualified individuals will have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent training in biobehavioral health disciplines such as neuroscience, psychology, physiology, epidemiology, and/or statistics, and have demonstrated research excellence. Experience in public health, genetics and biology is recommended. Experience or past training in epidemiology is not necessary but viewed positively. The research project the successful applicant will be leveraging genetic data from both the Polynesians in the Variant Biome and Hispanic/Latino participants from the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos (HCHS/SOL) and Cameron County Hispanic Cohort (CCHC) to perform various Machine Learning models across different 'omic platforms' to identify causal genes linked with severe obesity and its downstream cardiometabolic conditions.
