STARTING PAY RATE: $29.69 - $33.03 per hour working up to 19 hours per week. JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Assistant position primarily involves manual labor in support of maintaining and repairing Village infrastructure, facilities, buildings, and grounds. This role includes assisting Water Division staff with a variety of tasks and may also involve semi-skilled mechanical work, custodial duties, and operating vehicles or light equipment.

The Water Distribution Division is responsible for the upkeep of over 400 miles of water main, along with approximately 5,000 valves and 5,000 hydrants. This position plays a vital role in supporting repairs such as water main breaks, valve and hydrant replacements, b-box repairs, manhole adjustments, and water meter installations. The work is physically demanding and requires being on your feet and outdoors for most of the day, often in varying weather conditions.

JOB DUTIES:

1. Performs a variety of routine unskilled manual tasks, uses simple tools, and carries and wheels heavy material as required.

2. Performs minor maintenance and custodial work in the care of village owned buildings, grounds, and facilities.

3. Performs shop and yard clean-up and organization. Is responsible for the arrangement, location, and proper operation of job-related tools and equipment in the shop/yard environment.

4. Assists in processing and filling material requests and distributions of both fleet and public works-related material.

5. Thorough knowledge of the department's standard operating procedures and safety practices.

6. Keeps accurate records of accomplishments.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education equivalent to a high school diploma.

2. A minimum six months of general maintenance or related experience.

3. Possession of a valid driver's license.

4. Proficiency with current computer technology, job-specific software, and customer service systems.

BENEFITS:

Part-Time employees are not eligible for benefits.

SELECTION PROCESS:
