Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Event Management plays a crucial role in the planning, coordination, and execution of a growing portfolio of events at the GeorgiaCenter and various off site venues. This position provides strategic leadership and direction for event operations, which includes the event coordinationdepartment, event services department, departmental interns, and the newly created event planning department to support special events. The AssistantDirector is responsible for developing and refining processes that meet the unique needs of diverse event types, ensuring exceptional client satisfaction andoperational efficiency. In addition to overseeing daily operations for all events, this role supports the Director in maintaining high standards in event deliveryand ensures cohesive oversight of both standard conference events and special events. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented leader with a strongbackground in event management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in event planning or event management, preferably in a conference center, hotel, or large-scale event setting.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple events simultaneously, with a strong understanding of event logistics, budgeting, and operations.
  • Experience in a leadership role within event management, with a track record of successful team supervision.
  • Familiarity with audiovisual equipment, catering services, and other event-specific services.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in event management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant technologies.
  • Flexible schedule, with the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
