Accounting Manager

First Merchants Bank is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our team! This position will perform, manage, and supervise various accounting duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the administration of the accounting systems.
  
  
  
  • Maintain proper records in order to give sound information on operating and capital expenditures.
  • Monitor accounting and control policies and coordinate with other departments.
  • Maintain general books.
  • Continually update internal reports and recordkeeping for decision-making and expense control through detailed internal reporting.
  
  
  
  
• Assist with quarterly and annual SEC filings, including 10-Q and 10-K and earnings release.
• In addition to the above, individual Accounting Managers will be responsible for one of the following:
  
  
  
  • Accounting Manager
    
    
    
    • Investment Accounting
    • Coordinate purchase/sale activities with Treasury Department.
    • Review and manage staff accountants' activity as it relates to daily investment accounting activities.
    • Preparation and review of SEC disclosures related to the investment portfolio.
    
    
    
    
  • Accounting Manager
    
    
    
    • Accounts Payable
    • System Administrator for Accounts Payable system (Prologue)
    • Supervise Accounts Payable Staff includes evaluating, performance, recommending salary adjustments, promotions, discipline and career changes.
    • Manage processes and controls for Accounts Payable to ensure proper and timely payment of vendors.
    
    
    
    
  
  
  
  

To be successful in this position, we require the following:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, management or related field.
• A minimum of three (3) years of related accounting or financial experience, including at least one in a lead capacity.

The following would be a plus:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
• Supervisory experience
