The Data Engineer Intern will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing data solutions using the Azure Databricks Technology Stack and the Microsoft Azure Cloud. This includes creating & troubleshooting custom data workflows, integrating data from various sources and analyzing data across multiple systems.

The Data Engineer Intern will focus on experimental, proof of concept, Databricks Genie use cases (Genie is a GenAI Tool specific to Databricks). This work will require working with various levels of the organization to understand the use cases and their requirements. The work will result in documented findings, best practices and templates for future development.

This position will require a strong interest in data, data engineering, and advanced analytics.

Main Responsibilities

  • This is a hands-on technical role and will require innovative thinking and exploration to build data solutions.

  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand business needs and identify opportunities related to data analysis/analytics.

  • Develop process, templates, workflows, and documentation for Genie use cases, i.e. How do we best leverage Genie functionality.

  • Develop Genie visualizations and explore limitations of visualization.

  • Implement business logic and data manipulation within Genie.

  • Explore additional data connectors, APIs, and third-party integrations to enhance the reach of the platform.

  • Validate Genie functionality and usability (readiness).

  • Integrate data from various sources, ex: SharePoint, Database, Files and others.

  • Perform work using Agile methodology.

Job Requirements

  • Strong engineering/data skills.

  • Strong SQL skills.

  • Proficiency with Cloud Platforms ideally Azure.

  • Understanding of notebook development with Python, PySpark, and/or Scala.

  • Experience with Databricks (any cloud platform) is ideal.

  • Working knowledge of Advanced Analytics, AI and GenAI.

  • Experience with data modeling.

  • Experience with API integrations.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot related and complex issues.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience with agile methods to keep pace with frequent changes and to reduce complexity.

  • Must be a current undergraduate student returning to school in the fall

  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship or assistance from the company

Education

  • Pursuing a Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
