Overview
The Intern Cloud Engineer will focus on developing, optimizing, and supporting cloud-based solutions within Cotiviti's AWS environment. This internship role reports to the Director of Health Tech Research. This role will focus on leveraging cloud technologies to drive innovation, efficiency, and scalability. Preferred location is South Jordan, Utah, but remote candidates within the U.S. will also be considered.
Responsibilities
Develop, deploy, and manage AWS cloud services, including Lambda functions, Step Functions, and EventBridge.
- Work with Python and Node.js for backend development and automation.
- Design, build, and optimize cloud-based data pipelines using AWS Glue and crawlers.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code using Terraform to manage AWS environments.
- Support and troubleshoot AWS cloud environments, identifying and resolving errors.
- Optimize existing pipelines for performance, cost, and scalability.
- Experiment with new cloud solutions to drive innovation within the organization.
- Apply good design principles and system architecture best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink, Kinesis).
- Exposure to Generative AI solutions in the cloud (Amazon Bedrock, AI agents, etc.).
- Experience with AWS services such as DynamoDB (NoSQL) and Athena.
- Familiarity with Octopus for deployment automation.
- Understanding of security best practices in cloud computing.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program with a technology-related major.
- Completion of at least 12 credit hours of relevant coursework.
- Basic proficiency with AWS services, including Lambda, Step Functions, Glue, DynamoDB, and Athena.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and version control (Git/GitHub).
- Basic understanding of SQL and relational databases.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated with excellent research and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

- Must be able to provide high-speed internet access/connectivity and maintain a suitable home office setup.
- No adverse environmental conditions expected.
Base compensation ranges from $21.00 to $30.00 per hour. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs. This role is based remotely, and all interviews will be conducted virtually. Nonexempt employees are eligible to receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a given week, or as otherwise required by applicable state law.
