Primary Purpose of Position
North Carolina A&T State University's College of Health and Human Sciences has an immediate opening for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate/Scholar.

Responsibilities for the Postdoctoral Research Associate include - but are not limited to - developing research and outreach protocols, developing new strategies to train researchers in engaging minoritized populations in health research, collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, developing video content drawing on formative research, developing manuscripts for publication, disseminating research findings to both academic and community audiences, and supporting the development of a professional development series.

This is a term-limited grant funded position that could be renewed for up to 5 years.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina A & T State University is a public land grant high research intensity institution that is committed to teaching and learning, scholarly and creative research, and effective engagement and public service. As the largest HBCU in the nation, our enrollment is over 12,700 students and our workforce includes over 2,000 employees. North Carolina A&T State University offers over 90-degree programs at the bachelors, master's, and doctoral levels through eight academic colleges. The University is one of the sixteen constituent units of the University of North Carolina ( UNC) and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools ( SACS). The strategic vision focuses the University on interdisciplinary scholarly activities in a learner-centered environment.

The John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences ( HCHHS) comprises six departments and the School of Nursing. The HCHHS offers the following undergraduate degree programs: Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Services Management, Kinesiology, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. At the graduate level, HCHHS offers four graduate degree programs including the masters in Physician Assistant Studies (PA program), Master of Social Work ( MSW), Master of Science in Health Psychology, and Ph.D in Social Work. Three additional doctoral programs are under development: Doctor of Nurse practice ( DNP), PhD in Applied Psychology, and PhD in Sociology. The HCHHS is also home to the Center of Excellence in Integrative Health Disparities and Equity Research ( CIHDER), a hub for multidisciplinary research and community engagement efforts to alleviate health inequities. The HCHHS capitalizes on the synergistic relationships between these departments to develop advanced academic health science programming, enhance the training of healthcare practitioners, and conduct collaborative multidisciplinary research and scholastic activity.

The grant-funded project is led by a multi-disciplinary team in the Department of Social Work and Sociology and the department of Psychology. The goals of the project are to:1) accelerate clinical, collaborative, and translational research from health science to discovery to dissemination to patients and communities and; 2) overcome barriers to translation research and practice by improving efficiency, training the research workforce, and sharing successful research methods.
Minimum Requirements
PhD in field related to health equity, such as medical sociology, health psychology, health communication, etc. Expertise in qualitative data collection and analysis. Expertise in health disparities and health equity.

Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. Hybrid (Employees are working part-time in the office to perform job tasks that require on-campus engagement, and the remaining time at home)
