Summary of Job Duties:The University of Arkansas at Little Rock's School of Public Affairs seeks a candidate to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in our NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration program to begin in August 2025 for the 2025-26 academic year. We are especially interested in individuals who can contribute to teaching in the areas of Organizational Theory, Nonprofit Management, Public Human Resources Management, and/or Policy Analysis. Scholarship and public service areas are open. The MPA program has strong ties to state and local governments and non-profit organizations in the area, region, and throughout the state. Courses are taught primarily in the evenings and online. Candidates should have the ability to work effectively within a broad community of students, scholars, and stakeholders. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Public Administration, Affairs, or Policy; D.P.A. or Doctorate in a related discipline; ABD considered.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • Teaching experience at the graduate level and an established record of published research.

Job Duties and/ or Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in the Master of Public Administration.
  • Disseminate research at conferences, in refereed journals, or in other appropriate outlets.
  • Participate in faculty governance of and service to the MPA program, the School of Public Affairs, the college, and the university.
  • Provide professional and public service as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of theories and concepts of public administration.
  • Ability to teach both graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Knowledge of social science research methods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate.
