OVERVIEW

As an Associate R&D Principal Engineer within the Pet R&D Process team, you will have the opportunity to create, adapt, and implement technology solutions across our Pet portfolio to deliver business impact today and for the future in this critical category for General Mills. In this role, you will lead the ideation, development, and commercialization of new and existing technologies and capabilities to turn possibilities into reality and deliver top and bottom-line growth. This role is focused on providing R&D Process leadership within our Treats business as well as unlocking future technology and transformational/digitally-enabled capabilities across our broader Pet portfolio to accelerate growth.

In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to leverage your strong technical, possibilities-thinking, and influence skills to help ensure products are manufactured as designed; enable development, commercialization, and manufacturing efficiencies; and deliver process- and manufacturing-enabled technology solutions. You will be responsible for partnering across Pet Innovation Technology & Quality (ITQ) and other cross-functional partners to deliver impact

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide technical leadership to identify, develop, and implement new or adapted technologies to unlock new opportunities, enable efficiencies, and solve complex problems
  • Leadership of complex technical initiatives from feasibility through development and/or commercialization. Drive technical rigor through project planning, tools, and documentation
  • Coach and guide subset of team to achieve priorities and plans with executional excellence
  • Leverage digital tools (e.g., modeling, Process Analytical Technology, programming languages) to accelerate experimentation, advance capabilities, and enable data-driven decisions
  • Create and leverage advantaged connections to marry technical solutions with pet parent and business problems
  • Collaborate across ITQ, Supply Chain, Engineering, and internal/external experts to advance ideas through feasibility and implementation
  • Manage multiple priorities and prioritize based on changing business needs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Process Engineering, or other related fields
  • 7+ years of related experience in process development or product commercialization
  • Ability to build and leverage an internal and external technology ecosystem
  • Ability to challenge assumptions and build robust plans to test hypotheses with an appropriate degree of rigor
  • Demonstrated agile leadership and the ability to influence & drive change while building effective relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to drive results, including with and through others, while concurrently managing multiple ongoing initiatives at the same time
  • Possesses the ability to transform ideas into action and innovate on new ways of operation
  • Willingness to travel about 25%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated strong ability to lead projects and influence others
  • Experience with modeling, Process Analytical Technology, or similar Digital tools
  • Experience with one or more of the following technologies: meat processing, extrusion, drying technologies, thermal processing

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $106800.00 - $160300.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
