The Gage Engineer is responsible for developing detail part and assembly Gages, checking fixtures and holding fixtures and ancillary equipment to support the inspection requirements for sheet metal components and assemblies. They will understand requirements for various inspection measurement systems, i.e. CMM, Scanning, etc. Responsible for design, procurement, industrialization through buyoff at the Home Plant. Work closely with Product Engineering, GD&T Group, Stamping & Die Process Engineers, as well as Home Plant Teams to deliver gaging and fixturing to meet the needs of the product inspection requirements.

Basic Qualifications:



  • Engineering degree or Bachelor's degree with 3 years of combined experience in the following areas: metrology equipment for root cause diagnostics (Scanning, CMM, Laser Trackers, Vision, Meisterbock, Component gages) and dimensional control and manufacturing process engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with ability to present complex phenomenon and resolutions
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience solving dimensional and functional issues
  • Body shop and Die production inspection or production launch inspection experience
  • Knowledge of sheet metal dies and stamping process capabilities
  • Strong understanding of the capabilities of various manufacturing processes, including stamping, welding, molding, and assembly
  • Ability to work with various other activities and work cohesively as part of a team approach to problem solving
  • CAD Skills, including CATIA / NX / UG / Teamcenter experience
  • Knowledge of basic statistics and SPC concepts as applied to manufacturing processes and inspection gages
  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required, including weekends


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Five years gage and inspection knowledge including demonstrated ability to interpret drawings, datum schemes, and tolerances, create inspection tooling processes, lead supplier design and build, and follow through on gage issues during product launch
