The research assistant, under close supervision and within established departmental and hospital policies and procedures will perform a variety of general, technical, research, administrative or professional duties to support the clinical trial program under the supervision of William H. Sauer, MD and specific project managers. Responsibilities will be discussed in detail with applicants and will be project based.
PRINCIPALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
The following listing represents some of the duties of this position in a clinical research area. Other similar duties may be included, as appropriate to the area. The candidate may not necessarily perform all of these duties. - Clinical Trial Screening:
Reviews the charts of scheduled clinic and procedure patients to identify those who meet inclusion criteria for one of our clinical trials - Patient Enrollment
Interacts with research subjects and answer questions before the physician investigator discusses the research protocol they are invited to participate in Confirms adherence with all research protocol standards for patient enrollment - Data Collection Activities:
Collects and codes data into a usable database format Transfers collected data to code sheets Documents system changes, informing supervisor of conflicts between coding methods and protocol Prepares written reports on data, as appropriate - Research Activities:
Performs literature searches relevant to a specific project as requested by an investigator Assists in the development of protocols and regulatory documentation for funded and unfunded projects Assists in the writing of research abstracts and manuscripts for eventual publication - Other Project Activities:
Support development of internal research and or innovation projects (diagnostics, devices and digital health) through project management, clinical input and analysis Review and conduct external research Support special events and educational conferences Performs other similar or related duties as assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College graduate with a degree in natural or social sciences (expected 2025 graduates also welcome to apply).
- Some math, statistics, or programming background or coursework preferred.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIESREQUIRED:
- Able to correspond and communicate with others clearly and professionally
- Able to follow directions and established protocols
- Able to manage work processes and tasks effectively
- Good computer skills, including office programs
