Position description

The Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics, which is part of the Program in Public Health at the University of California, Irvine seeks a Specialist for a genetic analysis research project.

The person selected for this position will work closely with the principal investigator to:

* Assist with running pipelines on a Unix-based high performance compute cluster (HPC) for rare and common variant analysis, polygenic risk score calculations, and visualization of the results;

* Writing and running code in the R programming language;

* Assist with data management and data cleaning;

* Contribute towards team meetings, interpretation and presentation of results, and writing of a manuscript

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Applicants should hold an M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Computational Biology or Statistics/Computer Science with an emphasis in bioinformatics, computational biology or statistical genetics. The applicant should be familiar with R, and have previous experience with running analysis pipelines in Unix on a high performance compute cluster, programming in R programming language, analysis of sequencing data, especially single-cell sequencing data.
