Cox Communications is currently looking for a Senior Benefits Specialist to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia . The Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering the company's benefits programs for all Cox Communications employees. Additionally, they provide Tier Two support for benefits-related issue resolution to employees and HR Business Partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Administers employee benefit programs including, but not limited to, health, disability and life coverage plans, wellness and disease management programs for all employees.
  • Maintains employee benefit records and prepares documents necessary for implementing benefit coverage.
  • Maintains compliance with all legal requirements of various employee benefit programs.
  • Advises employees on eligibility and claims procedures for health/welfare, death, disability, retirement and other plans or benefits, including coverage amounts and policies.
  • Administers FMLA per defined policies & procedures.
  • Coordinates human resources procedures to initiate benefits such as disability insurance, medical and life insurance.
  • Assists employees in filling out the paperwork for their benefits packages.
  • Administers collection of insurance premiums for employees on leave of absence.
  • Verifies and documents insurance coverage for employees enrolled in alternate plan.
  • Adds dependent children for court orders, assists with dependent information updates and resolves PeopleSoft errors.
  • Processes return to work documentation in Workday from employees returning from Workers Compensation.
  • Calculates life insurance deductions for severance and/or coordinates plan cancellation when waived.
  • Provides benefit orientations, enrollments, claims processing of insurance. Processes and maintains all status reports and pay changes.
  • Prepares and maintains employee files, assuring accuracy, compliance and confidentiality (examples - unemployment claims, verifications, I9 status and State regulations).
  • Reduction in Force Administration
  • Update and maintain employee files regarding the tracking and calculation of benefit deductions.
  • Assists employees in filing health, dental, life, and all other related and deferred benefit claims.
  • Research, resolves and responds to escalations from HR Service Center regarding escalated benefits inquiries.
  • Interprets and communicates HR policies and procedures, both verbally and in writing. Communication channels include telephone, written inquiries, e-mail or other technological interfaces.
  • Utilizes case management and knowledge application for research and documentation to update tickets for inquiries and issues when answering questions regarding benefits in a proactive and effective manner.
  • Facilitates the use of employee self-service through customer interactions and support to resolve inquiries when applicable.
  • Maintains a useful working knowledge of company policies, procedures, government regulations and business ethics.
  • Participates in team or departmental meetings and individual meetings with Supervisor concerning own job performance.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED and 5 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 3 years' experience; or 7 years' experience in a related field.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Prior experience administering employee benefits.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations as they pertain to benefits.
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and data entry accuracy.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of direct work experience in benefits administration.
  • Working knowledge of Workday or related HRIS.
  • Strong aptitude for helping customers and a customer experience focus.
  • Must be able to work in a highly structured environment.
  • Strong computer skills and be able to navigate through multiple screens.
  • Ability to adapt to constant change.


USD 23.65 - 35.48 per hour

Compensation:

Hourly base pay rate is $23.65 - $35.48/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits:

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
