Nurse Extern - Abington
Shift: Rotating shift - 24 hours per week
Externship Duration: 10 weeks

A nursing student or graduate of an accredited school of nursing who does not have a temporary
practice permit who, under supervision of the professional nurse, carries out routine patient care
assignments, works in controlled care situations and performs established nursing procedures for
individuals or groups of patients This position includes, but is not limited to the following essential
functions.

Job Description

Performs specific tasks under direct supervision of a registered nurse within the established policies
and procedures for the Nursing Department at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Demonstrates accountability for assigned patients on shift or assignment.
Performs vital signs measurement: temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and pulse
oximetry readings. Records on patient chart.
Monitors intake and output.
Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Hospital.

Training Requirements
A student currently enrolled in an accredited baccalaureate college of nursing who has completed at
least one semester of a medical surgical clinical rotation

CPR certified
