POSITION TITLE
Account Manager- Government & Defense

POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Account Manager, you will manage all aspects of current sales and new account acquisitions for an assigned territory, with the flexibility to assist teammates when needed. A strong candidate must possess experience and knowledge of a proven sales process and preferably knowledge of the military product markets. One should have experience in seeking and developing annuity business with direct customers, the ability to build strategic relationships with key decision makers, and the ability to see the "big picture" by assessing, prioritizing, navigating, and quickly adapting to complex situations. Must work effectively with functional areas of the Government & Defense Business to include Product Managers, Development, Supply Chain, Finance, and Marketing. Strong listening, communication, and negotiating skills must be used to identify customer needs (and new opportunities) and to encourage customers to specify and purchase Milliken products. A proven track record of meeting and exceeding goals and revenue targets is strongly desired. This candidate must also have a willingness to work flexible hours in order to strengthen key relationships and secure specifications on must-win projects. This role will report to the Sales Manager, spending approximately 40% of their time traveling to current customers, potential customers, and industry events.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet or exceed all revenue and growth goals assigned.
  • Develop, plan, and execute sales and marketing strategies.
  • Develop and drive a detailed strategy aimed at retention/penetration to gain market share.
  • Develop and manage a detailed sales forecast for assigned territory.
  • Establish, develop, strengthen, and maintain relationships with key leaders across strategic accounts.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with end users and key industry personnel.
  • Manage and maintain a robust sales opportunity pipeline.
  • Promote the Milliken brand, military product offering, and capabilities in the marketplace

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree
  • EITHER:
    • 4+ years of demonstrated success in business to business sale, OR
    • 4+ years of U.S. Military service experience
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and execution management skills.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with a wide variety of functional roles - from technical to executive.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and other business software as part of daily workflows.
  • A passion for improving the customer experience and driving customer satisfaction.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, estimated at 40%.

QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED

  • Knowledge of military product markets.
  • Experience presenting to high-level decision-makers and navigating complex sales cycles.
