Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Coastal Engineering Practice Lead preferably in Corpus Christi, Houston or Galveston, TX or in one of our other Geosyntec offices throughout the U.S. such as: FL, TX, LA, MS, or AL. Hybrid or remote work may be available the Comapny's discretion. Our ideal practie leader will help lead, manage, and grow our coastal engineering practice along Texas and the Gulf Coast Region. The ideal candidate should have 10+ years of experience developing complex and innovative coastal engineering solutions. The preferred candidate will assimilate into our Coastal Engineering and Waterfront Development teams nationwide to provide engineering and client support on complex projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Collaborate and assist growth of Geosyntec's Waterfront business across Geosyntec, with an emphasis on the Texas Gulf Coast market;
  • Develop business and manage clients and projects in coastal projects including beach nourishment, shoreline stabilization, dredging, environmental restoration and mitigation, etc.;
  • Task and project management, including coastal engineering investigations and planning work, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, and client satisfaction;
  • Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the coastal engineering work in marine related projects;
  • Management and mentoring of med and early career staff;
  • Work plan development, data evaluation, and technical report writing on a variety of contaminated sediment, remediation, and waterfront projects;
  • Reviewing and managing written document production; and
  • Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties.

You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks.



Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in coastal, environmental or civil engineering, with emphasis on coastal or water resources. (required)
  • Advanced degree in coastal engineering or closely related field. (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer license. (required)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 10 years (15+ preferred) of direct engineering consulting experience working on coastal and waterfront projects or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Proven leadership and detail-orientation skills. (required)
  • Demonstrated business development and project management experience. (required)
  • Experience in relevant coastal engineering software. (e.g., Waves, Littoral Transport, Sedimentation, etc.). (preferred)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be require.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
