Position Summary

The Sociology Department at the University of Southern Indiana, a public university in Evansville, Indiana, seeks applications for a 9-month tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in Sociology specializing in health and society. We are open to a broad range of areas from health-related fields, including policy, mental health, organizations, demography, inequality, the family, community health and others. Appointment will begin August 2025.

Duties/Responsibilities

The assistant professor position will be expected to teach face-to-face and online (and related areas as needed), maintain an active research agenda culminating in peer-reviewed publications, and engage in professional and university service activities.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Applicants must hold or be nearing completion (ABD) of a doctoral degree in sociology. Applicants in the process of finishing their degree will be considered at the rank of Instructor if the terminal degree will be completed by the end of their first year of employment. If employment starts in August 2025, terminal degree must be completed by the end of July 2026.
