V2X is growing! V2X is looking for a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team!

Job Description:

The position you are applying for is with V2X, under Vertex Aerospace LLC, in the Information, Security, and Surveillance Solutions Business area. Using our experience and expertise with high power radar systems, V2X delivers world class Operations, Maintenance and Support (OM&S) and Depot and Sustainment (D&S) for the COBRA DANE radar located in Shemya, AK.

V2X is seeking a talented and experienced Principal Systems Administrator/Cybersecurity Engineer to join the COBRA DANE Engineering team. This is a Colorado Springs-based position that will contribute to all Information Technology (IT) and Cybersecurity engineering, operations, and maintenance activities for all program information systems. Travel to the Shemya facility may be required (anticipate at least one trip per year) to support cybersecurity and system administrative activities on site.

The qualified candidate will provide cybersecurity and system administrative services and support for all COBRA DANE (CD) Information Systems, ensuring compliance with governing DoD and Air Force Cybersecurity, Physical Security and Personnel Security directives.

Duties include, but are not limited to:



  • Prepare and sustain Risk Management Framework (RMF) Security Authorization Packages (SAP) for Assessment and Authorization (A&A) decisions using eMASS
  • Contribute to taskings of assigned COBRA DANE Cybersecurity, IT, and support activity
  • Perform system administrative activities for fielded Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) Information Systems to include Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Assist in developing and reviewing RMF, System Administrative, and IT plans, design processes, and procedures, and develop technical designs to secure information systems and components
  • Ensure sustainment of cybersecurity requirements are in alignment with DoDI 8500.01 and NIST SP 800-37
  • Perform vulnerability assessments on Information Systems
  • Install, configure, maintain, and manage security solutions to include but not limited to IDS/IPS, ESS, ACAS, and SIEM tools
  • Coordinate with team in following all Information Assurance/Software Assurance/Program Protection-related plans, policies, and procedures
  • Develop creative solutions to complex technical issues and problem
  • Perform control assessments for CD Information Systems and load test results into eMASS
  • Perform hardening and patching activities to ensure the most current applicable Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)/Security Requirements Guides (SRG) and related checklists are complete
  • Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements
  • Assist in managing Information Systems SW to include COTS, FOSS, GOTS, and Developed Code


Other Requirements:



  • Have a current DoD Cybersecurity Certification (in accordance with DoDD 8140.01 Cyberspace Workforce Management) e.g. Security+, CASP, CISSP


Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000

Required Skills:



  • Minimum 10 years related experience in Information Systems Security, System Security Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, or Systems Administration
  • Experience with security authorization packages and related artifacts, bodies of evidence to include eMASS usage
  • Working knowledge of operating systems security features and settings (e.g., Windows, Linux, Solaris, hypervisors)
  • Professional demeanor, good interpersonal skills, and ability to excel in a high-paced multi-tasked environment
  • Demonstrated ability to act independently, prioritize tasks, and manage tasks and personnel to schedule
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written modes
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues in complex systems and environments
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve issues accurately and efficiently
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook


Desired Skills:



  • Experience working collaboratively on a cybersecurity team or other technical team in mission planning and execution
  • Experience with leading cybersecurity/IT projects
  • Experience establishing and integrating various computer hardware platforms (VAX, Solaris, ESXi, Nutanix, Virtual Machines, Hyperconverged Infrastructures) and multiple operating systems in both stand-alone and LAN/WAN configurations
  • Experience with information security toolset including anti-virus, vulnerability assessment, SIEM, HIDS/NIDS
  • Experience with network device configurations and hardening
  • Experience with hardening various operating systems and commercial software products
  • Experience with Cyber/IA vulnerability testing and related network and system test tools, e.g., ACAS, Nessus, SCAP
  • Experience in developing and managing technical baselines--requirements, network and mission architectures, and developing and reviewing Engineering Change Requests
  • Experience applying technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to solve problems
  • Experience working with DoD government customers including the USAF and USSF


Education Requirements:



  • BS in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related technical degree and a minimum of 10 years prior relevant experience
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education maybe be substituted
