Job Description:

The Supervisor, TPA Strategic Operations is responsible for driving operational excellence, optimizing effectiveness, strategic innovation and leading the team that executes key initiatives for the Third Party Administrator. The position requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, cross departmental personnel, and our clients to ensure application of regulatory statutes, policy provisions, and adherence to best practice guidelines.

Responsibilities:



  • Oversee the development and delivery of key initiatives designed to optimize operational efficiency, enhance processes, improve servicing capabilities, and ensure client satisfaction
  • Provide high-level system support and technical expertise to cross functional areas to ensure compliance with best practices and established controls
  • Prepare project plans and define the scope of deliverables; communicate expectations and interdependencies across other projects and prioritizations
  • Serve as a main point of contact and subject matter expert during complex account transitions, provide sound guidance to mitigate challenges, establish project plans and monitoring tools to accomplish all goals established for the installation
  • Oversee staff that is responsible for supporting core systems, data management applications, account set up, statutory reporting, and compliance functions.
  • Lead or participate in corporate level projects and committees, including geographic expansion efforts, jurisdictional or line of business compliance initiatives, system enhancements and technological advancements, and delivery of new products and services.
  • Analyze workflow processes and identify areas for improvement within claims, operations, account management, and other core TPA functions.
  • Implement and maintain a culture of accuracy and quality within the operations team; develop internal procedures to drive high quality across all deliverables
  • Lead process design and enhancement initiatives and facilitate cross-functional collaboration across the organization
  • Understands business objectives and utilizes that knowledge to implement procedures to achieve overall corporate goals.
  • Work closely with the direct reports to provide actionable recommendations based on analysis of the processes and functions that will result in meeting or exceeding client expectations, internal needs, and operational improvement
  • Utilize performance management process effectively and on an ongoing basis, to maximize the performance of employees, administer personnel programs, provide career development opportunities, and promote effective communication with employees
  • Administer salary and personnel programs under guidance of Director, Operations and Analytics of Business Solutions, and other executive leadership in the organization
  • Leverage critical thinking and decision-making skills to develop, recommend, and implement opportunities for efficiency while adhering to best practices
  • Develop staff to respond to current and anticipated needs of the internal and external stakeholders, including continuous growing knowledge of technology sources and techniques
  • Ensure high levels of customer services across the organization and promote the ongoing spirit of collaboration, teamwork, and engagement with all areas

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, risk management, or related field (or equivalent experience) and/or a minimum of 3-5 years of progressive work experience in an insurance or third party administration related industry required; with third party administration technical operations preferred
  • Professional designations desired (CPCU, ARM, AIC, etc.)
  • Previous 2+ years supervisor and leadership experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of claims procedures, policies, state and federal laws, and insurance regulations preferred
  • Demonstrated project experience in the areas of technology advancements, product design and delivery, process improvements, and compliance initiatives
  • Proficient in using data analytics tools, CRM software, and operational management platforms
  • Ability to understand multiple technology platforms for claims, analytics, business intelligence, including the ability to learn new system software and business integration processes
  • Strong skills in applying sound judgement, including the ability to problem solve, establish goals, and implement action plans
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment and to work and collaborate with others, to consider the needs of all affected groups, and to build/leverage relationships across functions and organizations to achieve business results
