SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed registered professional nurse with graduate preparation (Master's or Doctorate) from an accredited NP program. This role is responsible for handling patient appointments and performing routine examinations to ensure patient health, including speaking with their patients about healthy lifestyle choices for their age, completing diagnostic tests to help diagnose and treat patients for injuries or illnesses and coordinating with other healthcare professionals to maintain updated medical records. This role will provide general and preventative care, conduct check-ups, treat illnesses, order lab tests and prescribe medication.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Provide health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, and independent nursing diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic diseases
  • Develop and manage the medical plan of care for patients or clients, based on the authorization for collaborative practice.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's age-specific needs.
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
  • Provide health care for individuals by managing health problems encountered by patients and clients
  • Provide innovation in evidence-based nursing practice based upon advanced clinical expertise, decision making, and leadership skills
  • Serve as a consultant, researcher, and patient advocate for individuals, families, groups, and communities to achieve quality, cost-effective patient outcomes and solutions.
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
  • Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools

  • Accepts and uses supervision, direction and consultation to maximize available resources in the completion of work duties.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP)
  • APRN license required for Kansas and/or Missouri depending on place of practice
  • Registered Nurse in State of Kansas
  • Certification as appropriate to the area of advanced or specialized practice by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or an equivalent body (e.g., American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation) or actively seeking certification. Certification must be successfully completed within one year of hire.
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum of 1-2 years OR clinical perioperative experience. 1-2 years' experience in the Nurse Practitioner role preferred.

  8. Exhibit experience and working knowledge of local community resources
  9. Hold current drivers' license and reliable transportation.
  10. Travel to all parts of the facility and throughout the community.

  • Employment is contingent upon successful clearance from Criminal, Kansas and Missouri Child/Elder Abuse and Neglect, Sex Offender background investigations, TB testing, pre-employment drug testing, and verification of Hepatitis-B, flu and COVID-19 immunizations.
  • Occasional evening and weekend availability are required.
