Overview

Nakupuna Solutions is seeking to hire a Senior Network and Telecommunications Engineer to support Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune (Jacksonville, North Carolina) with additional travel locations within the United States. Nakupuna Solutions supports the US Marine Corps with engineering, furnishing, installing, securing, testing (EFIST) and making operational a modern network infrastructure by providing all equipment, labor, training, software, firmware, licenses, power, interfaces, and documentation to make our solutions truly turnkey.

The ideal applicant will work as a member of the Nakupuna USMC Base Area Network Modernization Team and possess strong technical and customer-service acumen. He/she must be detailed-oriented, have excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and listening), be a team player, promote consensus, embrace learning, and be a consummate problem solver. Interested candidates must thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, have a positive can-do attitude, and be confident in engaging with senior-level clients.



Responsibilities

The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this position but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign additional duties and responsibilities to this role at any time for any reason.

    Support verification site surveys at government installations on the East Coast United States to identify and document current network infrastructures installed and ensure technical solutions meet customer requirements
  • Support the Lead Systems Engineer with documenting and executing system acceptance test plans and cutover plans
  • Support the Lead Systems Engineer to implement technical solutions for new and existing clients
  • Provide feedback to the Lead Systems Engineer on improvements to technical solutions being implemented
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, inventory, and documentation for network infrastructure at each installation
  • Implement, configure, and upgrade network routing and switching hardware and software
  • Understanding of networking technologies, topologies, and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, Ethernet)
  • Knowledge of and experience with Passive Optical Network (PON) and Passive Optical LAN (POL), Air Fortress wireless security gateways, converting Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunks, and implementing Software Defined Access (SDA) are highly desired qualifications
  • Hands-on experience implementing, operating, updating, and troubleshooting IP-based data networks (LAN/WAN/MAN) using Cisco IOS
  • Hands on experience converging voice, video, and data networks
  • Knowledge of and experience with wireless networking technologies using wireless access points (WAP) and wireless LAN controllers
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a geographically disbursed team
  • Exceptional analytical skills, able to apply knowledge and experience in decision-making to arrive at creative and commercially viable solutions
  • Strong desire to learn and contribute solutions and ideas to a broad team
  • Independent and comfortable in a fast paced, ambiguous, and often multi-directional work environments
  • Support and mentor junior and mid-level engineers


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology related field, preferred
  • 10+ years' experience in telecommunications and networking
  • 10+ years' experience delivering solutions to government clients

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP certifications are highly desired

Military Installation Access:
This position supports military installations. The successful candidate:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a base access pass
  • Must be able to obtain a favorable National Security Agency Check (NACI) including a FBI fingerprint check

Clearance Requirements: This position requires an active Secret Security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Must be willing to travel and work in any government installation in the United States.

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
